At St Saviour’s we value our young people and have a dedicated youth and children’s worker as well as a number of volunteer workers. Our aim is to support our young people aged 11-18 as they grow in their faith through what can be difficult teen years. We do this by encouraging them to develop and nurture a relationship with God through teaching and discipling. Each person involved has a DBS check and a commitment to safeguarding. We run several groups and activities for young people:
OFFSPRING: Sunday mornings 10:30am
After worship as a whole church, about 20 minutes into the service, we go out to have coffee/tea, a catch up and a Bible study. The subjects for these are chosen with input from the group to reflect what they would like to explore or have questions about. We recently looked at the Apostle’s Creed and BIG questions of life. Twice a term this group stay in to listen to the sermon, a vital part of growing up in the church. The week after that we discuss its message and what we learned from it, and anything we are confused about!
GLOW: Wednesdays 6.00-8pm during term time
GLOW is our group for 11-16 year olds. We run a huge range of activities, from computer games to cooking, from badminton to first aid. There is always food and drink and we regularly have a discussion on an issue like “Can Science replace God?”. We like to have the occasional trip out, like bowling or ice-skating. We meet at St. Saviour’s Church. New members always welcome, contact Rachel for further details.
Once a year our young people (11-18s) have a weekend away, most recently to Legge House and Wicke Court. This is a great weekend filled with games, teaching, food, challenges, worship, more food and even a little sleep!
In August each year, we take a group from St. Saviour’s to Soul Survivor. This Christian festival is a fabulous opportunity for them to meet, learn and worship with other Christian teenagers. They come back encouraged, inspired and exhausted!

Don’t let anyone look down on you because of your youth, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity. 1 Timothy 4:12
